World Malaria Day is an international commemoration
day held every year on April 25th. It was established in
May 2007 by the 60th session of the World Health
Assembly given the impending need for education and
awareness-raising of populations living in endemic
areas.
Given the huge number of people affected by this
disease in 106 countries and the resulting number of
deaths – 429.000 in 2015 – mostly among African
children, nationals’ malaria-control programs and
community-based education activities have become
indispensable as prevention and understanding of
malaria strategies for the population at risk.
