The pasThe past 3 years has been a struggle for us all. I hope 2023 finds you all fit and well d enjoying some normality back into our lives both professionally and personally.
As President my theme for the meeting is “Rural surgery - Build it and they will come”. This will allow us to showcase what great work is done in our rural areas and opportunities which exist outside of the “big smoke “ as well as the usual scientific program of high quality presentations and controversies.
Ken Cutbush and I are hoping to present to you a revamped ASM which will incorporate the rural theme along with lots of great new initiatives.

past 3 years the AOA ASM has been considerably impacted by the Covid pandemic. It has seen 2 years of zoom/hybrid meetings with a loss of face-to-face contact. The 2022 combined ASM was held with NZOA and saw us travel across the Tasman to attend.t 3 years has been a struggle for us all.
