Liposuction is a popular procedure in plastic surgery. Tumescent anesthesia is widely accepted as a standard technique in large-volume liposuction.Tumescent anesthesia can be achieved by infusing large volumes of Ringer’s solution containing dilute anesthetic such as lidocaine with epinephrine. However, commercially available Ringer’s solution and lidocaine and epinephrine are acidic and can cause perioperative and postoperative pain.
