 Specific objectives

  • Understanding the traumatic pathology of the peripheral nerve and its different injury mechanisms.

  • To know in detail the surgical anatomy of the peripheral nerves of the upper limb , as well as their main anatomical relationships of surgical interest.

  • Become familiar with current nerve repair and reconstruction techniques , using a surgical microscope and applying the fundamental principles of microsurgery.

  • To analyze the indications, therapeutic priorities, and surgical strategies in the most common clinical scenarios of peripheral nerve pathology throughout its evolution, including:

    • Management of acute and subacute injuries : primary repair, tubulization, nerve grafts and allografts.

    • Nerve transfers as a reconstructive option.

    • Palliative surgery in selected cases.
