The main objective of the course is to spread up-to-date surgical knowledge to as many surgeons as possible in Lebanon and the region. Expert speakers will cover key issues and use a case-based approach to facilitate the translation of the course content into practice. The course is not specifically intended to be a review course in preparation for a certifying or surgery board examination although it may serve that purpose as well.
At the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Recognize signs and symptoms of surgical diseases commonly encountered in general surgical practice and identify the most effective treatment plans.
- Describe and employ best practices relevant to general surgery through discussion of the essential content areas and subspecialties of general surgery.
- Prevent surgical complications through identification and utilization of safe and effective perioperative treatment guidelines.
- Formulate and prepare effective treatment plans to optimize patient outcomes and minimize patient risk.
- Identify proven strategies and techniques in the field of general surgery as well as advances in the field to apply them to current surgical practices.
- Compare and analyze techniques and evidence in the diagnosis and management of common general surgical diseases and malignancies.
- Detect guidelines for management of patients with significant comorbid disease.
