The program is aimed at “What's New and What’s Next" in hand surgery, with cutting edge topics and specific debatable issues.

Experienced faculty will present in mini symposia sessions on scaphoid fractures and nonunions, evaluation and treatment of ulnar-sided wrist pain, elbow injuries and carpal instability. Case-based scenarios, and lively discussion and debate with point and counter point style presentations will be the format; audience participation and questions are encouraged.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Discussion about debatable points in hand surgery with specific insight on what the evidenced-based literature shows, cutting edge content and controversies, and practical advice about common and uncommon conditions will fulfill the course’s objectives. Upon completion of the course, the learner will:

List options for management of scaphoid fractures and nonunions and stratify treatment options by goals and patient specific factors and outcomes.

Describe differential diagnoses for ulnar sided wrist pathology, evaluation strategies, and treatment alternatives

Describe injury patterns seen in elbow fractures and dislocations, and list treatment options associated with acute and chronic elbow pathology.

Be able to recognize carpal instability and describe treatment options.
